Can you use chinese smartphones in the UK

Cocoa compact Android smartphoneA question that is often asked by potential customers of our Chinese import phones is, can Chinese smart-phones be used in the UK?

The simple answer to that is pretty much yes. When you buy a 2G or GSM smartphone from phonelingo.co.uk you will notice that almost all of them are quadband. This means they will operate on all 4 of the major 2G networks including all the main networks in the UK.

Chinese imported smartphones will work in the UK.

There’s really only one exception to this and that is with 3 mobile. 3 runs purely on the 3G network this means that none of the 2G or GSM phones we offer here will work on the network. If you are using a 3mobile SIM card then you must purchase a 3G phone from the selection that we have available.

Basically a 3G phone will accept a 2G network card but not the other way around. This means that if you buy a GSM mobile phone you will not be able to run it on a 3mobile SIM.

Check for 3G compatibility if you use 3 mobile SIM card.

There are a couple of phones that we offer through this site which are not quadband but dual band. These dual band phones will work on the main 2G networks with a GSM sim card. But again they will not work on a 3G network SIM.

If you are in the UK and looking to purchase a feature packed android smartphone at imported prices then you are pretty safe with buying any of the smartphones here.

Chinese phones will work on suppliers such as Orange, Vodaphone and Tesco mobile networks.

It doesn’t matter if you are using a sim card that is provided directly by a network operator such as Vodaphone and Orange or a sim card that piggybacks on the main operator network such as giffgaff or Tesco, cheap imported android phones should work equally well.

One of the benefits of buying your own phone is that the ‘free’ phone is paid for by reducing the amount of minutes or texts etc that you get with your package. Buy a smartphone for about £60 or £70 and you can get a really good deal on either a contract or pay as you go sims.

Better deals on calls and text if you own your own smartphone.

Buying a smartphone that is also dual sim really opens up the ability to get the bet deals from different networks. since I bought my Ebony qwerty android smartphone I’ve really enjoyed some excellent offers available from the network operators on the sim only deals.

Don’t forget that free smartphones are generally paid for through reduced calls, texts or data packages. The competition for your calls is increasing and there’s no reason to lose out on that increasing competition by tying yourself into a long term contract and locking yourself into a smartphone.

Take the plunge and invest in your own phone and enjoy what’s on offer from the networks whether that’s on the GSM or 3G frequencies.
